Effectiveness of Phytic Acid as an Etchant in Dentistry: A Systematic Review

Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the effect phytic acid and compare it with phosphoric etching through a systematic review. search carried out using PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane library, Indmed, Scopus, Liliacs databases conducted upto January 2022. In vitro studies comparing as an etchant on tooth surfaces that performed bond strength, smear layer removal, collagen degradation monomer penetration were included. risk bias assessed considering Checklist for Reporting In-vitro Studies guidelines. Five chosen full-text assessment 830 potentially eligible. found improved degradation, penetration. Every had moderate-to-high bias. Phytic enhanced etch rinse adhesive's binding strength dentin, effectively eradicated layer, protected dentin from better resin infiltration minimal pulpal cells.
